Violating My Own Rules

I generally do not like to post unfinished projects, but thought I would make an exception for my current work. This is the canvas I worked up at Sharon G's canvas embellishment class at Nimble Needle. This is a fun little canvas that of course reminds me of my own little cats, Cara and Mia.

I loved Sharon's ideas for the sushi and other delicacies on the plate and thought I would share these with you. There will be more fun stuff on this canvas and I will post as I progress along.

Busy week ahead. Happy stitching.

Something Happy

I needed something to cheer me up and I thought of my bunnies. They were just I needed to put a smile on my face. Now I just have to keep happy thoughts in my head.
Here is also a picture of the progress on Jake's cars. Progress has been slow but it is coming along. Once the sky is finished, I have the cars to do and then it is finished. I want to have a custom frame made for this and have to do some research on that.

Happy Valentines Day

This is the Valentine I got from Jake today. He made it at nursery school for me. Hope you get a gift as good as this one.

What? No Photo AGAIN, Denise?

Sorry. Again. No photo from yours truly.

I have been working on a gift for a dear friend's daughter's wedding shower gift. Since it's a gift & I don't know who may visit here, I don't like to post gifts & possibly spoil the surprise. This wasn't a huge canvas, but it did have a lot of beading. I learned my lesson with that one. As I told Linda the other night, the next time I have this much beading, I may alternate with Kreinik or some other thread. Beads are so pretty but time consuming, what with lassoing and all. And boring.

Enough complaining. The good news is that I finished something & now I will be working on something I can photograph & share. I will be going back to a cute little Amanda Lawford canvas, about 5 x 5, that I worked up with Sharon G at a Canvas Embellishment class at Nimble Needle. Linda & I really enjoy getting to Karen Milano's store, Nimble Needle, in Haddonfield, NJ. It's just outside of Philadelphia, in a NJ suburb, a nice looking little town & a not so bad car ride away for us (ok, almost a 2 hour car ride). Karen's store is very cute, Karen always has some new canvas to show us, and she just has a great eye for colors & thread. And Haddonfield is an easy(ish) ride for Sharon G as well, so we've been lucky to take a few classes with Sharon at Karen's shop.

No meetings for me tonight, so there should be some stitching time. I woke up with a cramp in my back which I hope passes shortly (who gets a back pain where it hurts to lie down? only me!) so I can stitch this evening.

Fortunately, Linda's been keeping you updated on her antics. And I seem to have created a scissor fob monster.

Day Off

Today I had an unexpected day off from Nana Daycare. Jake goes to nursery school three mornings a week and today they had parents day. Jen took off so she could go. Jake was so excited to see his mother. He could not stop hugging and kissing her. Would have loved to see it.
I started my day off at PT and then was going to go home and spend the day stitching. As you can see, I did something else. I called Pier One when I got home and found out they had the Easter bracelets in. Off I went in search of the perfect bracelets. I was so excited with my finds that I had to make my scissor fobs. I already know who will be receiving them.
My next set of scissor fobs will be for the Thanksgiving House. I already have the bottom charm for them and am now in search of the perfect beads.

Now I have to finish cleaning the house and make dinner. Stitching will have to wait until after dinner.

Jake Stitching

Just two pictures of Jake stitching.

Progress on Cars

Jake's cars are really progressing nicely. I have finished the road and am almost finished with the border. Next up will be the sky. I hope to have that finished this week and then on to the cars. Jake loves helping me stitch. He pulls the needle up for me. Jen, my daughter, even bought him a kit with the large plastic needle. She said that he takes a couple of stitches and then goes plays with his cars.

The banner is on the back burner right now since I want the cars finished for Jake's birthday which is on March 9. Hope I make it.
