Christmas Finishing

The UPS man delivered the most wonderful box. I am totally in awe of the finishing that Ruth Schmuff did for me.

Here is the front of Santa. This canvas is from Barbara's Needlepoint and is an exclusive done by Ann for them.

The back of the finishing. Ruth fulfilled every dream I had of how to finish it and more.

This is a Kelly Clark canvas from the Heritage II series being done as a club from A Stitch In Time.

Back of ornament.

Second finished ornament in the series.

Back of ornament.

The sides of the ornaments. Oh, how this adds to beauty of the finishing. Ruth did such a fabulous job finishing these ornaments. Cannot wait to see them on my Christmas.
Now for some pictures of my little man.

Jake with his gold metal for reading 100 books at the library challenge.

Love this picture. He is just so cute. Sorry for bragging but I cannot help it.
He just lights up life. Everyday when he runs in and give me a big hug and kiss and says, "Love you Nana" he makes my day special.

More Craft Shopping

We continued on to our next craft shop, a yarn store in Falmouth called "Sage." I found the name intriguing when I googled "yarn stores, Cape Cod."

This is the thing I love about yarn stores: I love to touch all the beautiful yarn. And there are so many types, so many colors, so many...everything. Don't misunderstand: I love my needlepoint stores just as much. But the yarn does bring me back to my childhood, when my Nanny introduced me to her favorite yarn manufacturer, Berocco (I'm sure it was the Italian name that first attracted her). They still make beautiful yarn. Ashley got some pretty pink cotton acrylic, & I got a lovely wool/tencel blend. Mmmmm.

Ashley also "needed" this crochet hook.

We're hoping for great beaching tomorrow.

Vacation Time

At long last, vacation. Those of you tolerant enough to be my Facebook friend know that the family & I are vacationing. Thank goodness.

This afternoon, it clouded over. So, Ashley & I decided a little craft shopping was in order.

Our first stop was Christine's Osterville Needlepoint Shop. A very cute little shop, with two trunk shows to entice. The store was filled with tons of finished products, standups, purses & oodles of ornaments. Ashley fell in love with the lighthouses. I decided to pick up a vacation ornament, to remember our trip. I got two teeny seagull buttons to embellish. My stitching sister, Linda, would love this shop, as they sew on binding; she loves that! Although I am sure I have plenty of threads for this canvas, I couldn't resist these pretty Threadworx.

Next post will be about our next stop....a different craft!

Third Halloween Star Finished

All three Halloween Star canvases are finished and ready to go off to the finisher.
Kathy Schenkel is the designer of these canvases. I am having them finished as ornaments. I decided not to add more and make them into a garland for my mantel.
Last year I purchased a Halloween mantel cover from Grandinroad and just love it so I did not want to make the ornaments into garland.

The Skelton

All three Halloween stars.

Have not been stitching a lot this weekend - I have been busy watching Downton Abbey. Have finished seasons one and two and am presently watching season three. I realized that you cannot stitch while watching this show. Hope to finish it up soon so I can get back to stitching.

Christmas Finish

I am so excited to show you this finish! I selected this last year for a Tony Minieri
canvas embellishment at Stitch by Stitch in Larchmont. I fell in love with this banner as soon as I saw it, but I was a little reluctant to use it for a canvas embellishment as it was painted on 13 mesh, sometimes, 13 can be tough to embellish.

There was no need for my fear. Tony met the challenge and more. I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but this canvas just sparkles and shines! Sparkle Rays,
Kreinik for multiple layered stitches, beads, buttons, charms, turkey work, appliqués
.....Tony did it all.

I love the way this looks and cannot wait to add it to my Christmas decorations this year.

Two Finished - One More To Go

Just finished the Kathy Schenkel mummy. The ghost is waiting for me to start him.
Hope to drop all three off for finishing by Saturday at the latest.

The cat does not show up well in the picture at all.

Nana Day Care will be opening on September 3. Jake will be starting school on September 9. This year he will be going five mornings a week. Have missed not seeing him much this summer. Jen has kept him very busy between the pool and tennis lessons and doing the library challenge. He has five more books to read to reach 100 and then he gets a medal.

Guess What Holiday I Am Getting Ready For

First I want to thank everyone for all their best wishes. I had a wonderful birthday.

Yesterday I dropped off the Halloween Mini Mask for finishing. While at my LNS,
Stitch by Stitch, the mail was delivered. We were all drooling over the Halloween catalogue from Grandinroad. I saw something I wanted but was determined to find it for less.

This morning I went to Michael's to see what I could find.

I found two perfect pumpkins. The smaller one will be for the Halloween mask.

I also found this fun witch's hat with a headband. It is perfect for the medium size pumpkin.

Still could not find the stands I wanted. Where to go? Then I had a light bulb moment and off to Pier 1 I went. They were considerably less then Grandinroad
and they were also 20% off. I was one happy little shopper.

I also purchased two small ornaments and two bracelets for Halloween. I think the ghosts and candy corn would make great scissor fobs.

I made one other purchase but it is too well packaged to unwrap so you will have to wait until I decorate.

I have been trying to put up a blog post all day but it will not through with the pictures. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Wonderful Day At The Enriched Stitch

Yesterday Denise and I went to The Enriched Stitch in Wilton, CT for NN East Retreat. Suzie Vallerie owner of The Enriched Stitch was gracious to host the event.
It was such a great day seeing old friends and making new ones. A lot of talking, shopping, stitching and eating went on. Suzie had four trunk shows to entice us and we certainly were.

This was my purchase - four Halloween ornaments by Kathy Schenkel and a new laying tool.

Suzie had on display stitched samples of classes held in the store as well as samples for future classes.

Everyone busy stitching and talking.

Two Fun Finishes

Just got two pillows back from the finisher; I am so excited!

My little pink nutcracker girl for which Robin King creatively created a terrific stitch guide came out so cute! Last year I saw a larger nutcracker finished as a pillow rather than a roll up, stand up figure. What nice idea! You can really see the stitches that way. My original intent was to have two Christmas nutcracker pillows (you saw the red one a few weeks ago) but, honestly, there just weren't enough Christmas colors here.

So, with all the pink, my daughter, with her pink & green bedroom is taking possession of this when she changes over to her fall comforter.

The other pillow is a Barbara Elmore canvas that Linda & I did as an at home class from Bestitched. It was a fast & entertaining canvas to stitch, & the larger ribbons are just so unique. The intent was to also learn how to make a coordinating mat & frame the work...but I just saw this matching my bedroom so well! Betty at Stitch by Stitch in Larchmont said everyone who saw the finished pillow was blown away. I think we all agree.

Tomorrow: as reported by Linda, Needlepoint Nation Northeast.

Fun Stitch

Just finished Associated Talents Mini Halloween Mask. I really had fun stitching this canvas. It made me smile as I stitched it. This canvas worked up quickly.

Off to the finisher.

This weekend Denise and I will be going to Enriched Stitch in Wilton, CT for Needlepoint Nation in the Northeast. Looking to meeting all the stitches I have seen on Facebook. I will take pictures to share with you.
