Almost Finished

This Santa ornament is designed by Ann Hanson for Barbara's Needlepoint.
As soon as I saw this on Facebook, I knew I had to have it. When I ordered the ornament Barbara asked if I wanted the threads too, of course I said yes.

Here are all the threads and a copy of the canvas telling you where to use what threads.

I have had such joy stitching this piece. At first I was going to do decorative stitches but decided to follow the stitched piece that Barbara had on Facebook. I absolutely LOVE this piece. The basketweave brings out the real beauty of this canvas. I cannot remember the last time I basketweaved almost an entire canvas. I almost forgot the calm that comes over you as you stitch basketweave. Sometime we just need to go back to the basics and this piece has taught me that.

Don't you just love his face? The colors are just perfect and he looks so calm.
I wanted to do his pompom in turkey work but wanted it to stand up so I took out my Amy DVD Just Fur Fun and found the perfect stitch. I used jump through the loop turkey work with Fyre Werks. I got the look I was looking for.

I was hoping to have had him finished this weekend but other responsibilities got in my way. Hope to post a finished picture in the next couple of days.

Another Finish and Recommendation

The first Heritage II club ornament is finished. This is a Kelly Clark design with stitch guide by Alison Hodgkiss of A Stitch In Time. Had a fun time stitching this canvas. Looking forward to my second one arriving soon.

I am thinking of having this ornament finished with the sides gusseted and a black and white fabric on the back with a Mackenzie Childs feel to it and of course ribbon on the top.

In the Spring last year I sent Fireside Stitchery about 150 to 175 canvases to sell on eBay for me. This week I received my first check from them for the 51 canvases that have been posted on eBay and sold. I was so happy with my check. I could not believe how much my canvases sold for. I was thinking I would get the amount of that check for all the canvases. They are posting between 10 to 12 of my canvases a week. I am so looking forward to my next check. Denise has use Fireside also to sell canvases and is also extremely happy. We both highly recommend using Fireside to sell your unwanted canvases. I will be going through my stash and sending more to Fireside.

Off to decorate for Easter. Will post pictures tomorrow.

New Accessory and Blizzard

On Sunday, I saw on Ruth's Blog these fun magnetic frames that will hold your magnets. I immediately called to order one.

How cute is this? I added the ribbon and put on some of my favorite magnets. I am going to order a second one since I still have more magnets that I want to display. It is nice to have them out since now I do not have to spend time looking for a magnet to match my canvas.

I also discussed the finishing of my "friends" canvas with Ruth. I am so excited about the finishing we decided on. Cannot wait to see all the magic Ruth will work.

As you all know, the east coast is being hit with a blizzard. Today Nana will be on a short work schedule since Jen is getting out at 10:30. Hope to be free by 11:30.
Will get all my cleaning done and then stitch, stitch, stitch.

We are expecting between 10 to 18 inches with much higher drifts. They say the storm will not kick in until about 1 or 2 this afternoon. We were supposed to have a dusting this morning but we have about an inch already. The snow blower is ready to go, we have plenty of food in the house and phone and iPad are fully charged.
Bring on the storm.

The snow early this morning.

Progress and New Ornament

I am having fun stitching the first Heritage II club ornament. This is a Kelly Clark canvas with stitch guide by Alison Hodgkiss.

Here is my progress so far. The cap is done. I changed the stitch to a brick and really like it. The middle border is done and the bottom of the ornament is done.
I started the upper section last night.

The FedEx man delivered this to the office door and not to the house. My husband got the box. I really like to keep my acquisitions to myself. Not only did my husband see this beautiful ornament from Barbara's Needlepoint but Jake got in on it too. His first words were "more point" and next he said "this is my point and I stitch it myself". He then ran off with the canvas. It took some bribing and I finally got it away from him. It is now in a safe place. I hope when he gets up from his nap he does not ask about it.

I have a feeling that I am going to be stitching a lot of smaller projects this year.
I hope to return to the house soon.

Back from the Framer

My lovely Mediterranean door is back from the framer & waiting patiently to be hung in my office. It will join another pretty entryway by Sharon G that I stitched up about a year or so ago with the help of an Amy stitch guide. Now I have my two masters & my favorite artist all together.

Another Finish and Fun Shopping

I just finished putting the last stitch on my third Russian egg. I am really enjoying stitching these eggs. I cannot wait for egg number four to arrive. They are a fairly quick stitch and I really need that feeling of accomplishment. They take me between a week to a week and half. I only get to stitch for about one or two hours a night and these are the perfect size for that feeling of accomplishment.

This egg will be shipped off with eggs one and two for finishing tomorrow.

Here is a picture of my next project.

It is waiting for the first stitch which will be put in tonight.

I had fun shopping this weekend at the trade show. I purchased several magnets, mag friends nutcracker, white sheep, red heart and Elizabeth Turner's Santa face and one pink snail. Two new books were also added, one book by Julia Snyder and one by Little Shop Canvas Company. I purchased Melissa Shirley's Witches Stitching Club canvas. As soon as I saw this canvas, I knew I had to have it. I love this canvas. There were a lot of beautiful canvases but this was the only one calling my name. I hope you were able to find something that called to you too.
